The New School welcomed Peter as our new Principal in 2016. Peter has 25 years experience in progressive educational settings. He has founded and led a variety of youth and environmental organizations, including Youth Transformations where he serves as a board certified holistic health and mental health coach for teens. He is also an adjunct faculty member for the Self-Design Graduate Institute.
Peter received his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Walden University and his Master’s Degree in Environmental Studies and Education from Antioch University. He has written extensively on alternative, holistic, integrated educational theory and techniques. His book, “The Tao of Teenagers: A Guide to Teen Health, Happiness and Empowerment,” was released in 2016. He volunteers his time to organize Alternative Education Resource Organization representatives worldwide and as a review and committee member for the American Educational Research Association.
Peter enjoys spending time with his partner Laurie, his two dogs Tweetie and Bruno, his family and friends, reading especially anything written by J.R.R. Tolkien or on education, writing, spending time outdoors, making healthy food creations, gardening and studying martial arts.

Janet Perry is TNS’s multi-talented office administrator. She came to us from Sea Road School where she educated 4th and 5th graders in computer technology. Janet ran her own business for 12 years in Kennebunkport and Kennebunk. She has her own line of stencils which have been sold at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston as well as stencil shops all over the country.

Lee Sullivan is TNS’s Recruitment Coordinator. Lee spent over twenty-five years in fundraising and marketing positions for human service and environmental organizations. She stepped into the Recruitment Coordinator position after her son Nicholas enrolled at The New School. Lee has a BA from UC Berkeley where she majored in Conservation of Natural Resources and an MA in Sociology from UNH. Lee loves exploring beaches and hiking trails in southern Maine and spending time at her camp in the White Mountains.
