Committees

As a democratic school with a teacher-led model, our committees are integral to the administration and ongoing functioning of the school.  Committees are comprised of parents, teachers, staff, students, and a variety of dedicated community members.

ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE
· Coordinating and facilitating All School Meetings
· Making sure that committees submit reports at All School Meetings
· Taking minutes at All School Meeting, including attendance, and making minutes available to school
· Coordinating the development of policies to be presented for approval at All School Meetings
· Supporting Principal and Administrative Assistant with administrative tasks
· Providing a forum for conflict resolution and problem solving
· Providing a sounding board for faculty and staff
· Assisting treasurer to draft budget for approval at All School Meeting

ADMISSIONS AND WELCOMING COMMITTEE
· Coordinating and conducting all aspects of student admissions from application to two month review
· Developing personal relationships with potential new students and staying in contact with them
· Helping new families adjust to TNS
· Keeping track of those interested in TNS and conducting follow up as needed

BUILDING COMMITTEE
· Research on future of TNS and OTB re buildings and location
· Preparing proposal for future

DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
· Coordination and communication with Outta The Box management team to support their needs
· Developing marketing and public relations activities to recruit new students
· Updating literature for recruiting
· Staying in contact with alumni for continued support
· Planning and directing the fundraising activities in conjunction with the development director

EDUCATION COMMITTEE
· Coordinating and conducting all teacher hiring and rehiring
· Facilitating the teacher evaluation process
· Assisting teachers with reaching their annual goals
· Working with the principal to supervise, evaluate and discipline TNS faculty
· Working with Board to evaluate the principal, hire or terminate the principal
· Reviewing and setting standards for teachers
· Supporting LEAP nights, roundtables, and school wide events
· Developing new educational endeavors that will keep TNS in the public eye
· Providing student academic support when needed

FACILITIES AND TECHNICAL COMMITTEE
·  Maintenance
·  Cleaning sub-committee responsible for regular cleaning
·  Renovation
·  Sub-leasing to community groups
·  Coordinating two yearly work days for all parents (sets dates, creates and communicates the work/job list and ensuring
that materials are available for the work day)
·   Making required upgrades to building/grounds
·  Technology sub-committee responsible for maintaining computers and software and for developing communication tools

FINANCE COMMITTEE
· Bookkeeping · Bill-paying Preparing financial report
