Perhaps the hardest part of 2020 has been losing our rock, Janet Perry. Janet has been an integral part of The New School for over 17 years. Not only did she keep The New School’s central office together, she was an educator, an artist, and a friend. Everyone loves Janet, she is truly a legend in these halls. She has had such a positive and powerful impact on our community that it is hard to let her go. We wish you the best of luck, Janet, and we hope you will continue to be a presence in our school. Please know that no one will ever be able to fill your shoes. The office feels empty without you.
Did you know that Janet loves birds? Years ago, she befriended a family of crows. The crows would follow her from her home on Dane St. to The New School, where she left kitchen scraps out for them to eat. In honor of her bond with our crows, we have set up a donation account with the Center for Wildlife in Cape Neddick. The Center provides rehabilitation care for injured wildlife and offers educational programming for the community. You can make a donation to the Center in Janet’s name one of two ways— You can make a direct donation to the center through their webpage. You will find a section that asks who this donation is in honor of. Simply enter Janet’s name. If you would like add your donation to our collaborative donation from The New School, please do so at our PayPal site. Once donations have been collected, we will make a single donation on behalf of Janet Perry and The New School. This is a terrific way to honor Janet’s time with us and to strengthen our connection with area conservation efforts. You may send cards and well-wishes for Janet to TNS and we will be sure to deliver them to her. We are really going to miss her in the office, but we are so happy she can finally enjoy swimming at Turbat’s Creek whenever she wants to.
Best of luck, Janet!
