“The New School is more than a school – it’s a loving community that embraces and helps people grow and find their place in the world”.
Cassie Sears, TNS Graduate
In 2018-2019, tuition is $11,400.00.
Families work together to support the operation of the school through a variety of ways. Families attend monthly All School Meetings, participate on a committee that contributes to the viability of the school, and assist with fundraising events and activities. We often find ways to accommodate the schedules of parents who are unable to make regular committee meetings or attend a particular fundraising event — for instance, they might assist with a mailing at home.
For families who choose, there is an option to pay an additional fee of $3500 to reduce the parent work requirements. The full details of this option are available when you visit or speak with the admissions coordinator.
Some towns in Maine have high school options and will pay a certain amount of tuition to the school the student attends. Currently the towns of Acton and Arundel pay their money to schools of choice. This means that residents of these towns have choice in where to send their children with their tuition dollars following. Parents are responsible for any additional amount there should be if the town does not cover the full amount, and are still responsible for parent duties noted above. Parents must notify their school department that their child will be attending The New School.
There is a limited amount of financial aid available each year, and some scholarship support as well. Financial Aid is based on need, and parents are encouraged to apply when enrolling.
