Every Friday afternoon from 12:30 to 3:30 The New School will have opportunities for art and outdoor physical experiences, plus some special events and classes. All the experiences will be led by local people who believe in The New School and have expertise to share. Students — including homeschoolers that haven’t joined the school community — will be able to earn high school credit and achievement narratives will be provided for most of these. Our offerings for this and next month:
- Starting September 12, a four-week course on journal making.
- Beginning September 19, a five-week hands-on physics course.
- Also starting on September 19th, a two-week course centered on biking on trails around Kennebunk. (Students will need their own bicycle and helmet to participate.)
- A two-week course where we hike on Mt. Agamenticus and other local trails begins on October 3rd.
- The four weeks starting on October 10th are a watercolor and nature photography course. (Students will need a camera device for the photography section.)
- The three weeks beginning on October 17 will be dedicated to beach volleyball.
Travel will be provided; supplies will be provided with exceptions as listed above. Questions should be directed to marylyn.wentworth@tnsk.org or (207) 602-0245, especially if you are not a student of The New School and wish to join us.
