FALL FAMILY FACILITIES WORK DAY

Early Sunday morning, the frost on our green metal roof was just starting to melt and drip off, and  TNS families were already armed  with shovels and rakes and implements of destruction for our fantastic fall facilities work day. Yard work  was the name of the game, today. Noah Tetreault brought in the heavy  machinery and moved a ton of soil,  brush, and detritus with his excavator. The rain garden was completely  cut back; several gardens were re claimed from invasive plants like  bittersweet and multiflora rose, and  our picnic tables were given some  much needed love and attention. COMMUNITY AGREEMENTS 2020-2021

COMMUNITY AGREEMENTS  Over the past two weeks, our amazing student body has been engaged in some tough conversations about ways to create a school culture that was inclusive, supportive, and one that they felt ownership of. The result of these powerful, student-facilitated conversations is our Community Agreements for the 2020-2021 year. All of the students have  signed the Community Agreements and Open Campus privileges have been implemented as a result. Community Agreements for the Year of 2020/2021 Any rules surrounding the pandemic are subject to change as the situation changes,  for any changes made the teachers will have the first and [...]

IF WE HAVE TO GO REMOTE

Teachers have developed a Remote Learning Plan for the school in the  event that community transmission rates of coronavirus rise and it be comes too risky to continue meeting in-person for school. We will also  use this schedule if the school needs to close due to positive COVID-19  status within our community.   Here is the Remote Learning Schedule. Students will be expected to join  their classes on Zoom using the above schedule. Teachers will use a variety of instructional approaches including whole class synchronous instruction, catch and release lessons, and independent learning options.   Using Google Classroom will be essential [...]

THE NEW SCHOOL’S GRADUATION IS COMING!

Graduation will be held in person at TNS on Saturday July 25 at 10:00 am.  Because we are limiting our in-person attendance for graduation to less than 50 people to comply with COVID-19 public safety measures, we will be live-streaming the ceremony. The link to register to attend is available now on our website. We also have our live viewing link on Facebook. A professionally filmed version of graduation will also appear on our YouTube page.  Invitations have been sent out to graduating families, staff, student participants, and other community members. We are asking people who have received an [...]

VEAP GALLERY 2020

At the end of every semester, The New School celebrates our students' learning with a public display of their accomplishments.  We call this event LEAP Night (Learning Exhibits and Performances). LEAP is an important tradition at TNS, and unfortunately the quarantine prevented us from holding an in-person event this spring. We still wanted to celebrate our students' accomplishments and share their learning with the public.  Thus, was VEAP created.  Please enjoy our Virtual Exhibits and Performances of the  students' spring learning. THANK YOU TNS STAFF FOR A WONDERFUL SCHOOL YEAR!

A letter of gratitude to our amazing staff of teachers- from the Board of Directors: We just want to say thank you for all you do for our students.  You truly do nourish them in every way.  You not only help them expand their minds and their horizons.  You are their sunshine.  You protect them from the storms. You watch over them, guide them, encourage them, help them stand tall and be all that they can be and then send  them out into the world.  Just like every gardener we know. The way you rose to the occasion during [...]
